By: Dr. Nesi Bahar
Principal consultant doctor

Hello, as the principal consultant doctor of the Signature clinic I do the vast majority of consultations here. So, when you pay us a visit you will more than likely have a consultation with me. What can you expect from a consultation? If it is a physical consultation I will go through your medical history, Physically assess the area, then we will discuss your treatment options. However, if we have an online consultation I will need to see pictures to assess the area, go over your medical history and then discuss in detail what we can do in order to achieve the results you are yearning for.

What is Gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is a problem that plagues men of all ages. Gynecomastia makes you uncomfortable in your own skin, you find yourself avoiding certain types of clothes, even refusing to remove your top at the beach, pool, or even in the comfort of your own home. This is something we regularly treat at Signature Clinic, an easy solution. This procedure is done under local Anaesthesia, where we combine Vaser Liposuction and gland removal so you can finally say goodbye to your Gynecomastia.

Can I get rid of Gynecomastia on my own?
Well, unfortunately, it depends on the type of Gynecomastia. If you have Pseudogynecomastia (which is mostly fat) then yes, you can get rid of it on your own. However, if it is true Gynecomastia your only option is glad removal.

What is the difference between true and false Gynecomastia?
Well, the main difference is the presence of the gland. False Gynecomastia is purely fat so, we simply remove it with Liposuction (this is generally caused by weight gain). True Gynecomastia is a glad, something you cannot lose through weight loss or even liposuction alone. True Gynecomastia requires liposuction and gland removal in order to completely get rid of it (this is commonly caused by puberty or steroid usage).

When should I consider Gynecomastia?
Patients often wonder if they should wait longer, allowing the Gynecomastia to fully develop before considering this procedure. No, of course, you shouldn’t! Once we have removed your Gynecomastia the chances of it coming back are extremely low, as long as you are in good health. Now, the best time to have your Gynecomastia procedure depends on what caused it. If it was caused by puberty then anytime is suitable! If steroids are at the root of it then it depends on you, are you still using them? Are you planning on using them in the future? Are you planning on using post-cycle therapy? If yes, we can sort it out. It all comes down to you and your personal choices! There is no age recommendation for Gynecomastia as long as you are over the age of 18 then we can get you booked in for a consultation.

What are the common reasons causing Gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is a very common condition that affects a lot of men these days, and of course, there are various reasons you may have it. One of the most common reasons is puberty and some bad
luck, which is sadly out of your control. Other causes include weight gain, steroid use, and certain medications. The good news is we treat this every day at Signature Clinic!

Will my Gynecomastia ever come back?
A very common question we get asked about Gynecomastia is will it ever come back? Yes, it can, if you gain a lot of weight, use steroids incorrectly or develop a hormone imbalance then Gynecomastia may return. It is in your hands! As long as you live a healthy lifestyle then the chances of your Gynecomastia returning are extremely slim!

How do we do it?
Gynecomastia is one of the most popular procedures performed here at Signature Clinic. We perform around 100-150 procedures a month! So, how do we do it? Well, we make two small incisions in the side of your chest, melt and suck out the fat with Vaser Liposuction, Finally, we make a semi-circle incision around the nipple, remove the gland and stitch you back up! This whole procedure is done under Local anaesthetic as it is safer for you.
