What to expect at the time of your surgery:
The finger or toe will be cleaned before the procedure. While you are awake, the surgery is performed under local anaesthesia. The affected nail on a finger or toe will be the site of the anaesthetic injection. It is called a digital ring block. After the area has become numb, either the nail will be removed or a sample of tissue from a portion of the nail unit will be collected for a biopsy. The incision will be sealed by pressing the edges together or by covering the affected area with a skin flap. The wound will be covered with a thick dressing.
What to expect after your surgery:
Instructions for post-procedure care are given to patients; these instructions may include cleaning the region, changing dressings, and taking any recommended medications. Depending on the complexity of the treatment and the reason for the nail removal, there may be a variation in the recovery time. Healing frequently takes a few weeks or months.

Fingernail Removal FAQ
Since local anaesthesia is usually used during nail removal procedures, there shouldn’t be any pain. Although the area will be numb, you might feel some pressure.
Usually, not many scars remain, especially if only a portion of the nail is cut off. With time, the scar could seem less noticeable.
Specific post-operative care instructions, such as cleaning the area, changing dressings, and taking antibiotics if necessary, will be given by our aftercare professionals.
