Facelift (Rhytidectomy)2024-09-04T11:22:21+01:00

Facelift

The most common signs of ageing are the lines, wrinkles and loose skin that start to sag. Since these are an inevitable part of the natural ageing process, many people choose to reverse them in order to regain their youthful look, making them look as young as they feel inside. Rhytidectomy is a facelift procedure that requires excess skin removal in order to compensate for the loss of natural elasticity of the skin usually around the mouth and jawline.

About Facelift Cosmetic Surgery

The traditional facelift (Rhytidectomy) starts with an incision along your hairline, down past the front of your ears, and into the hairline behind the ears. Positioning of the incision allows the scars to be hidden by hair or blend into the natural creases of the face. Following the incision, the surgeon gently separates the skin from the underlying tissue and tightens the facial muscles. Finally, the excess skin will be removed, and stitches will be applied. Rhytidectomy can be done safely under local anaesthetic for suitable candidates.

Facelift FAQ

What aftercare is provided?2023-04-18T11:34:54+01:00

We provide every patient with complimentary out-of-hours aftercare. Our patient promise is to be at the clinic within 60 minutes of your emergency if necessary.

After a facelift, will there be visible scarring?2023-09-06T11:33:41+01:00

Scarring is maintained to a minimum using the most cutting-edge facelift techniques now available. The locations of the incisions will be carefully chosen to minimise visibility during healing and over time. Both for men and women, they are also very well hidden.

Often, the hairline and the area around the ears are where a facelift leaves scars. This indicates that your hair can help conceal the scars. Your scars will fade and flatten with time and good care, becoming practically undetectable.

How long does a facelift last?2023-09-06T12:09:15+01:00

The effects should endure for several years. The facelift tries to combat the most difficult apparent indicators of ageing because the ageing process is ongoing. You can extend the results of the facelift as long as possible by leading a healthy lifestyle and following good skincare practices.

After a facelift, will there be bruising and swelling?2023-09-06T12:22:24+01:00

Swelling is a side effect of all surgical treatments, including facelifts. Bruising following surgery varies depending on the patient’s natural healing processes. After two to three weeks, any swelling and bruising should subside and eventually go away.

How long after a facelift can someone exercise?2024-07-19T14:20:05+01:00

It’s recommended not to perform strenuous exercise for the first 2-3 weeks following the facelift procedure.
