About Asian Blepharoplasty Treatment

The epicanthal fold at the inner corner of the eyes is one of the most distinctive ethnic features. The inner canthus is covered by the epicanthal fold, which forms a web over the eye. Simply expressed, this fold decreases the range of eye-opening. On the other hand, by adding a crease in the top lids, where it would normally develop, Double Eyelid Surgery (Asian Blepharoplasty) helps to produce a “wide awake” impression. Excess skin and muscle, as well as fat, are removed if they are contributing to a puffy appearance.

Women and men who want to adopt a more ” wide awake” or make their eyes not just “appear bigger, brighter, and more alert,” but genuinely bigger, seek Asian Blepharoplasty.

"I had an upper blepharoplasty with Dr Carlo Debass in March 2025 in Cardiff. I cannot fault the clinic, staff and Surgeon. My whole process was excellent and the aftercare so far has been faultless too. The clinic is not what I was expecting. It is in a business park amongst other medical businesses. The theatre was immaculate & well equipped & the staff were professional & knowledgeable."

Asian Blepharoplasty FAQ

The goal of the procedure is to remove the excess skin to make the eyes look more fresh and rejuvenated. This in some cases may cause the eye shape to look mildly different due to excess skin no longer being present.
Scars for the upper eyelids are hidden at the natural crease making them minimally visible. Scars for the lower eyelids are placed below the eyelashes to reduce their visibility.
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the eyelids. Blepharoplasty surgery changes the appearance of sagging eyelids and bags under the eyes.
The results of blepharoplasty last, on average, for at least 5-10 years. This number is influenced by how well you take care of your skin.
Blepharoplasty is preferred by patients who want to reduce the bags under their eyes or eliminate droopy eyelids that are making them look tired or grumpy. On some occasions it is performed in order to restore peripheral vision that has been impaired by severe excess skin.
Eyelid surgery only fixes peripheral vision that is blocked by droopy eyelids. There are many other causes of peripheral vision loss, including glaucoma, occlusions, a detached retina or a compression of the optic nerve. If you are experiencing peripheral vision loss, it is important to schedule an appointment with our eye doctor for a thorough examination and diagnosis.
Blepharoplasty is done on an outpatient basis. You will be able to go back home soon after your procedure, once your surgeon determines that it is safe for you to return home. As a rule of thumb, your stitches, if not self-dissolving, will be removed after 7 to 10 days. Most patients make a full recovery within one month, although recovery may take longer on occasion.
Bags in the lower or upper eyelids are common characteristics of an ageing face. Some patients have a genetic predisposition to these bags or have excess skin in their eyelids. These can be good candidates for the procedure.
