Lip Reduction Surgery

You may have heard of lip augmentation surgery, a frequent technique to give your lips more fullness. Reduction surgery, which is performed to reduce the volume in your lips, is less frequently mentioned. Although less common, lip reduction surgery can be helpful if you want smaller lips or are unhappy with the outcomes of a previous augmentation.

Lip Reduction Surgery

Lower or upper lips’ skin tissues may be removed during lip reduction surgery, or sometimes both. In an effort to restructure the entire lip area, this is done. In order to make sure you don’t experience any discomfort, anaesthetic, either local or general, is given first. A horizontal incision is made by the surgeon in the pink inner part of your lip during the surgery. It lessens scarring. The surgeon next cuts away extra tissue and fat from the lip to minimise the volume of the area.

The surgeon will use stitches to seal the incision after all the targeted tissues have been removed. Within a couple of days or weeks, these typically disappear on their own.

What to expect at the time of your surgery:

  • horizontal incision is made by the surgeon in the pink inner part of your lip during the surgery.
  • The surgeon next cuts away extra tissue and fat from the lip to minimise the volume of the area.
  • The surgeon will use stitches to seal the incision after all the targeted tissues have been removed.
  • Within couple of days or weeks, these typically disappear on their own.

Who can prefer Lip reduction surgery:

Those who want to alter their facial appearance are typically candidates for lip reduction surgery. The majority of patients who have this type of surgery have naturally large lips or have lips that are larger than ideal as a result of a previous augmentation procedure.

With aging, your lips may also change. Any ensuing asymmetry might be treated successfully by lip reduction. The lip reduction technique is frequently combined with other aesthetic procedures like dermal fillers.

Lip reduction Recovery:

The most frequent side effect, swelling, might linger for several weeks (though this may last several months for some patients).
In the initial days following surgery, when soft foods are advised.
After three days of the treatment, the majority of patients are back to work and their regular daily schedule.
