Mole Removal
Mole removal surgery is used to remove a mole or a collection of moles from the skin. Moles, commonly referred to as nevi, are frequent skin growths that can develop anywhere on the body. While the majority of moles are benign and safe, some can be abnormal or exhibit signals that they could be cancerous, necessitating treatment and removal.

What to expect at the time of your surgery:
- A local anaesthetic is used to clean and numb the region surrounding the mole.
- The surgeon removes the mole and a short margin of good skin around it using a scalpel or surgical blade.
- The incision is subsequently closed using stitches or sutures. The type of suture used is absorbable, meaning they dissolve naturally.
Preparing for your surgery:
Our surgeon will carefully examine your skin before conducting a mole removal procedure. They may capture photographs of the moles to facilitate future comparisons. In order to gain a more detailed assessment and determine the most appropriate method of removal, they may employ a device known as a dermoscopy.
Your doctor will identify and mark the specific locations on your body where the skin will be removed. Subsequently, the marked areas will be thoroughly cleansed. To ensure your comfort during the procedure, you will be administered analgesic medication through an injection directly at the surgical site or topical application to the skin. In some cases, you may receive both methods of pain relief intermittently.
Mole Removal Recovery:
You will be reviewed and looked after until the wound is completely healed. Scars should fade and flatten anywhere from 2-3 months.

Mole Removal FAQ
A common side effect of mole removal surgery is scarring. The degree of scarring can vary depending on the mole’s size and location, the removal method employed, and your skin type.
Dermatologists and surgeons work to reduce scarring by employing precise procedures and, whenever feasible, making incisions in regions that are not readily visible. Scars frequently fade and disappear overtime.
Following mole removal surgery, you might need to limit some activities for a short while to allow for appropriate healing.
Specific post-operative instructions, such as refraining from intense exercise, heavy lifting, or exposing the area to an excessive amount of moisture or sunshine, will be given by your healthcare provider.
To encourage the best possible recuperation, it’s crucial to abide by these recommendations.
Typically, local anaesthetic, which numbs the treatment region, is used during mole removal surgery. As a result, the process shouldn’t be painful for you.
But, you might feel some discomfort as you heal, such as a slight soreness or sensitivity where the surgery was done.
