Welcome to our new podcast series! We have kicked off the first episode with our chief Surgeon Dr Ahmed Aslayed and fellow Surgeon Dr Ridwan Mia discussing Forehead reductions. Answering any patient queries and going through the procedure step by step. A forehead reduction surgery is a cosmetic procedure that is commonly performed to alter the height of the forehead or lower the hairline. There are a variety of factors that can lead to a larger forehead, including hair loss, genetics, injuries, and previous surgeries. By reducing the height of your forehead, we can restore you back to a proportional and elegant look. Dr Ahmed explained that the perfect candidate for Forehead reduction surgery is those who have a forehead larger than 7cm starting from the point between the eyebrows to the start of the hairline. This procedure is performed safely under local anesthesia and the surgeons discuss the different ways in which the surgery can be carried out for the desired result. These include a 10-14cm incision along the hairline or a U shaped incision along the hairline which reduces the size of the forehead by 4-5cm. We have many before and afters on our facebook and Instagram pages. There are no stitch marks with this procedure as all of the stitches are dissolvable and 100% hidden under the skin. Dr Ahmed describes the procedure as feeling like a ‘deep head massage’ for the patient as you will feel no pain, only pressure on the area. The aftermath of the surgery is of course a reduction in the size of the forehead, gives a little bit of a brow lift by the nature of the procedure and as can be expected with surgery some bruising and swelling throughout the healing period. The surgeons also touch on the possible risks of the procedure such as temporary hair thinning along the front of the scalp which is nothing to worry about as it will grow as normal within 3 months.
