Traditional Circumcision
During a traditional circumcision procedure, our surgeon will cut away a portion of the foreskin and reattach the section that remains to create a shorter section of skin. Circumcision may be carried out for a number of reasons in men. Common reasons include:
- Phimosis – when the foreskin is tight and won’t pull back/retract
- Reduced risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

Non-Medical Reasons for a Circumcision
Common reasons for circumcision include personal hygiene, preventive healthcare and family customs. Additionally, traditional circumcision can be a cultural and religious custom.
Traditional Circumcision Benefits:
Improved hygiene – Circumcision makes it simpler to wash the penis
Reducing the possibility of urinary tract infections – Non-circumcised males are more likely to develop urinary tract infections than circumcised males. However, the risk is still modest.
Lower possibility of contracting STIs – Men who have undergone circumcision may be less likely to contract some STDs, such as HIV. Safe sexual behaviour is still crucial.
Prevention of erectile dysfunction – Occasionally, an uncircumcised penis’ foreskin may be challenging or impossible to retract (phimosis). Foreskin or penis head irritation may result from this.
Reduced danger of penile cancer – Although uncommon, circumcised males are less likely to develop penis cancer. Additionally, circumcised men’s female partners are less likely to develop cervical cancer.
Traditional Circumcision Recovery Process:
In the immediate hours and days after the surgery, you’ll likely experience swelling and bruising on and around the penis. It’s important that the dressings around your penis stay clean so you can reduce the risk of infection. Recovery from adult circumcision typically takes five days.
